Structural design of the extension of a single-family house located in Nalinnes. The project focuses on the integration of a new living space within the existing residential context, with a timber roof structure designed to provide both structural efficiency and architectural quality.
For the extension, a central exposed concrete volume supports the umbrella-like roof structure and houses the heating stove. The roof is designed as an exoskeleton made of tapered glued laminated timber beams, embedded into this central element.
This structural concept frees the façades from load-bearing elements, allowing them to open widely onto the surrounding landscape through large glazed openings. A continuous strip skylight between the roof and the walls further enhances the natural light within the extension.
